The new digital home for San Martino

We have transformed the destination into a streamlined, fast and ultra-intuitive digital platform. The new architecture guides users between inspiration and planning, with clear paths, seasonally flexible content, and immediate access to key areas. In this way, the online experience is the first concrete step towards booking your next mountain holiday.

A new portal for the tourist board of San Martino di Castrozza.

San Martino di Castrozza, Passo Rolle, Primiero, the Vanoi Valley, Val Canali and Sagron Mis: one Alpine area, many different faces. The new portal for the San Martino di Castrozza, Primiero and Vanoi tourist board was created to bring them all together in a living, connected digital ecosystem, at your service 365 days a year.

More than just a website, it is the beating heart of the destination: a technologically advanced platform that reshapes the communication strategy and puts the user experience at the centre. The interface has been streamlined: the main sections are immediately clear, information arrives fast in just a few clicks, with zero friction.

The content architecture is designed to move beyond the old summer/winter model: the seasons coexist, intertwine, and offer inspiration. On each page there is the full-option version, an area ready to be used whenever you choose, not only “in season”.

A region worth highlighting

That’s why the first item in the main menu is entirely dedicated to the region. The story starts here with its roots: the villages of Primiero and San Martino di Castrozza are spectacular, traditional alpine villages, set in the heart of the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Natural Park, one of the most breathtaking parts of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

An exceptionally rich heritage, which the new portal finally puts at the centre, where it deserves to be.

Holiday motivations

The new portal guides you step-by-step to build a tailor-made holiday around what you love doing. Content is organised into broad interest groups, so you get straight to the point:

  • Outdoor & Ski  for those who live for the slopes, the trails and the climbs
  • Family for those travelling with little ones and needing clear, safe services, close at hand
  • Food & Wine, Art and Culture for those who want to literally get a taste for the region through its food, stories and traditions
  • Relax & Wellness for those looking for a rejuvenating break among nature, spas and silence.

There’s also room for the real questions: what do I do when it rains? The portal answers with targeted suggestions, zero panic and plenty of indoor ideas. And if the mountains are also your office, you’ll find a selection of services for working remotely at altitude, designed to help you work smart and carve out quality time between a call and enjoying the views of the Dolomites.

Everything flows into “Plan your holiday”, the central control room where inspiration and organisation meet. This is where you can gather practical information, tools and useful services in one place to turn what you’ve seen on the site into a trip that’s ready to go.

Beneath the surface of the design, the technology has only one purpose: helping people book better and earlier.

Technology serving bookings

The digital strategy is designed to maximise conversions: accommodation and experiences are highlighted and referenced across multiple sections of the portal, so in just a few clicks a great idea becomes a confirmed booking.
This is supported by a set of handy, practical integrations:

  • real-time weather (3bmeteo) to choose the right time,
  • live webcams  from the area to see what the conditions are like right now
  • up-to-date lift and slope bulletins thanks to the APIs of Feratel and Dolomiti Superski (TGP).
Fewer open tabs, more certainty for anyone planning their next mountain escape.

Sustainability

In the new portal, sustainability is not just a slogan, it’s the central part of the story. It shapes the vision of a lighter kind of tourism, one which is respectful of places and the people who live there.

Since 2022, Primiero San Martino di Castrozza has been part of the international Alpine Pearls network, which promotes gentle, low-impact tourism: fewer cars, smarter mobility, and authentic experiences enjoyed at a slower pace.

Recognition

Awards and European projects show how Primiero and Vanoi have become a state-of-the-art workshop for the ecological transition. These valleys are are a pilot site for the European project “Communitas” for developing energy and sustainable communities. They have received international-level awards, such as the European Solar Prize 2023 for the Primiero and Vanoi Energy Community and the “Non Sprecare” Award 2022 to ACSM for its shared energy model. As early as 2020, the area was identified as Italy’s first national pilot case on energy communities and, over the years, it has taken part in initiatives such as InnoForEst and Multiply, as well as receiving awards including the RES Champions League and Legambiente’s Comuni Rinnovabili, which recognise it as an example of virtuous renewable energy use.

“Move AP!”

“Move AP!” is part of this vision, a sustainable development project that actively involves local hotels and restaurants. Through “Move AP!”, many businesses are making a concrete choice for eco-friendly mobility and reduced plastic use, offering services, practical measures and small but meaningful touches that lower the impact of a stay.

Operators Area

A key feature of the new digital ecosystem is the Operators Area, a dedicated space designed for people who work in the destination, every day.

This is where tour operators can find tailored information, useful materials, and practical tools for managing their presence in the destination more effectively. One of the most important features is the ability to manage the availability of private apartments that are not integrated into Feratel, so the non-hotel accommodation sector can also be included in an orderly, professional way.

This is not just a private area, it is a shared business tool that strengthens the bond between the APT and operators, aligning communications, services, and the overall offering.

Because the new San Martino di Castrozza, Primiero and Vanoi portal only truly works when everyone is connected: guests, the territory, and those who bring it to life every day, whether in summer or in winter.
