In Bormio, wellness is a way of life

Kumbe Digital Tribe arrived in Bormio some time ago and now we’ve given it a fresh new look! New technology, same mountain destination, where wellness isn’t just about tourism, it’s a way of life. 

It is no coincidence that “The Wellness Mountain” is their payoff, capturing the essence of the resort’s identity. The QC Terme Bagni Vecchi and Bagni Nuovi are particularly well known, alongside the Terme di Bormio experience.

But that’s not all. The mountains take centre stage, together with the iconic Stelvio and Gavia Passes. It’s a dream destination for cyclists, hikers, climbers, and families in search of an alpine resort where both kids and adults can have fun.

Explore the Wellness Mountain

Five product mini-sites: Cycling, Ski, Outdoors, Wellness, Culture & Tradition: Visitors land in an environment that reflects their passions: routes, experiences, trip ideas, and top tips designed for that specific sector. 

Seasonality isn’t a graphic detail, it’s a feature.

In summertime, the story opens up onto the trails, for trekking and the outdoor life; in winter the scene warms up with snow, spas, museums, and markets. Images, headlines, and calls to action change along with people’s real needs, so anyone looking for inspiration can immediately find the “why” and the “what to do” without getting overwhelmed by information.

A website that stays alive all year

Cycling can shift from the classic summer climbs to fat-biking on snow; Ski alternates piste conditions and ski schools with off-season training sessions; Outdoors moves from via ferratas to winter hiking; Wellness blends relaxation with the rhythm of the outdoors; Culture & Tradition follows festivals, museums, and local traditions through the seasons.

On an inspirational site, the story guides the journey: wide-format photography, example itineraries, destination highlights, and editorial suggestions that help people picture the experience before they even book. But each page does not just offer a distant dream: it paves the way to action with clear steps towards choosing accommodation, purchasing passes and experiences, and practical deep-dives through K·Tips.

This is where storytelling becomes a daily guide: updated opening hours, seasonal availability, tips on gear and safety, how to get there, where to park, route difficulty levels, and weather conditions. 

The result is a natural journey: I get inspired, understand what I need, plan and book, all in the same place.

Technological integrations for a portal that converts, and Pimcore as the project’s digital core

We adopted Pimcore as a headless CMS platform to manage content and tourism catalogues in a centralised, scalable way:

  • PIM & taxonomies: structuring objects, offers, experiences, events, and points of interest with attributes, relationships, and categories that are consistent across the whole destination. 
  • Headless API: displaying content via APIs for a fast, flexible frontend and for potential future channels.
  • Integrated DAM: managing images and videos with automatic variants, metadata, and usage rights, ensuring visual quality and performance.
  • Data orchestration: synchronising and enriching input data from Feratel (availability, prices, property pages), with mapping and validation rules. 
  • Multilingual experience: simplified language management.
  • Performance & SEO: advanced caching, asset optimisation, semantic URLs, structured data, and metadata control for a platform that is pre-prepared for indexing. 
  • Workflow and governance: roles, permissions, and editorial flows for marketing and local operators, with previews and content versioning.
  • Enhanced search: a unified index (content, properties, experiences) with filters and sorting designed to reduce time to booking.
  • Compliance & analytics: consent management, tracking, and integrated conversion KPIs for continuous funnel improvement.
